School Dept. outlines plans for former library building

Members of the Gilford Planning Board were presented with a conceptual plan outlining what will need to be done to the former library building to house the school administrative unit offices and bring the building up to code.

Present during the public hearing on Tuesday evening from the school district was Assistant Superintendent Scott Isabelle and Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds Tim Barlett. Earlier last week, Bartlett made a similar presentation before the Historic District Commission explaining what is being done to preserve the historic value of the building.

The Gilford School District was given permission by the town to occupy the former library building just a few months ago after a court decision ruled that the town has rights to the building instead of the heirs of the couple that donated it to the town. Come March, voters will be asked to vote on a 25-year lease agreement between the town and school district at $1 per year. To read the entire Citizen.com story online, click here.
